The Best Places to Meet Other Houston Moms

A large portion of Dr. Jung’s patients at Premiere Surgical Arts are moms. That’s probably not surprising, considering Houston Mommy Makeover procedures are one of his specialties. From the initial consultation through the final appointment, he gets the opportunity to develop relationships with his patients and learn more about their lives. It’s become abundantly clear just how rewarding but also challenging motherhood can be. That’s why it’s so important to have a support system that includes women who are in the same boat. We’re here to help with our guide on how to meet other Houston moms.

Baby Boot Camp – There are several Houston Baby Boot Camp programs that meet at parks and malls around the city and the part, aside from getting in a good workout and feeling awesome, of course, is that the first class is free. The mommy and me programs are headed up by certified fitness professionals and feature stroller fitness classes and community support. Most of the classes are 60-minutes and appropriate for women who have one or more stroller-aged kiddos.

Executive Moms Society – While many Houston moms groups are geared toward parents of babies and toddlers or convene during the day, Executive Moms Society (EMS) is designed for professional women with children of all ages. It’s a networking group where busy moms can network to grow their business, market themselves and socialize. The group holds lunch events with speakers on a variety of topics, running the gamut from parenting to career development, as well as breakfast and evening social events and the occasional activity where children are invited as well.

Volunteer – The recovery efforts for those affected by Hurricane Harvey are ongoing. Volunteering allows you to meet like-minded moms and members of your community and show your children the importance of giving back. One of our recent posts included groups that were in need of volunteers, though organizing your own drive is a powerful way to help while connecting with your neighbors.

MOMS Club® – There are a few local chapters of the international MOMS Club® that host Houston mom meetups. The organization caters to at-home, part-time working and home-based business moms and their children and offers opportunities to interact with other women and their kids for support, activities and friendship. Events are typically held in the daytime during the week, though there are Moms Night Out get-togethers, service projects and more. Check the website for a list of Texas chapters.

Bayou City Mamas – Bayou City Mamas is a resource group for Houston parents and parents-to-be. They host events where you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about babies and kids as well as link up with baby gear, parenting and medical experts in the Houston area. They recently launched the Houston Baby + Kid Show that featured the top brands and manufacturers in the baby industry. Other popular events have included a night out all about potty training and baby shower extravaganzas complete with newborn care seminars, dinner and a guide to must-have baby products.

North Houston Super Moms – This community of working mothers (though stay-at-home parents are also welcome) is for Humble, Kingwood, Spring, Tomball and the Woodlands moms and those in the surrounding areas. They have biweekly meetups for playdates and activities, mostly on the weekends, where you can bring the kids for family fun.

Kiddie Gyms – Kiddie gyms are great places for meeting Houston moms. Most even let you try a free class before joining. You’ll have the chance to chat with other parents while bonding with your baby or toddler and encouraging their development. Gymboree has locations throughout Houston with classes for little ones zero through fives-years-old. They also host the Gymboree New Mom Meet-Up for moms with infants under nine months of age that meets on the third Thursday of the month from 12:45 to 1:45pm at various area Gymboree outposts. The Little Gym has a host of Houston parent-child classes too, focusing on movement, music and building motor and cognitive skills.

Houston Public Library Programs – The Houston Public Library has a ton of awesome programs for parents and their children that are free to library cardholders and encourage a love of reading and learning. There are options such as baby playtimes, toddler storytimes, toddler yoga, family storytimes, crafts and more. Find a branch near you and take advantage of all the library has to offer.

Moms & Tots NW – This family-oriented moms meetup in Northwest Houston is a laidback group that offers regular activities, playdates and events aimed at getting out with the kids and finding camaraderie and support. Upcoming meetups include storytimes, dinners and mommy and me craft sessions.

Southwest Houston First-Time Moms – First time and expecting moms on the Southwest side of Houston can enjoy conversations, playdates, picnics and other affordable activities with this small, but growing, mommy group. This fall, they’re planning to meet for coffee, go out for brunch and have a mom and tot walk along.
