Earlobe Repair
What is Earlobe Repair?
Wearing heavy earrings or large ear gauges, improperly placed piercings or trauma to the ear can result in a stretched, torn or split earlobe. Earlobe repair is a fairly simple procedure with no downtime and can restore your earlobe to its natural shape and create a smooth surface, which can eventually be re-pierced.
benefits
- Split or torn earlobes can be sutured back together with minimal scarring
- Stretched or elongated earlobes can be restored to their former appearance
- The earlobe will be smooth again and can be re-pierced
TREATMENTConsiderations
Earlobe repair is performed under local anesthesia. Dr. Jung will trim the skin around the torn or stretched area to restore the natural curve to the earlobe. He then uses thin stitches to fuse the edges back together creating a smooth, unbroken surface.
PRE + POSTOp Care
The recovery for earlobe repair is minimal and any discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. You can return to work or school immediately. Stitches are removed in about a week. Once healed, the scar will barely be noticeable. We recommend waiting at least two months to have the ear re-pierced.
